It is always great to see how talented and unique my new friends are. Chris Kelly is a sophomore in the band Edgehill. I searched for his band and found two new songs, “Jonny’s Friend” and “Shooting Glances.” I decided to learn more about them and share their story with the community after seeing the music.
Their roots
The group was calledEdgehill before. The Backpockets was one of the names they started out with.
Kelly said it was terrible but he liked it at first.
Edgehill Avenue was the inspiration for the band, but only Kelly liked it. When they first heard the name, they thought it could have been better, but eventually they fell in love with it.
Their musical passions
Music was an important part of their upbringing.
Around fourth grade, I began to teach myself guitar by watching videos on the internet. I remember learning Green Day’s first song and it was really bad. I’ve always been a fan of guitar. It’s like a friend to me.
Kelly said that his mom had him matching pitch before he could speak. Music was always a thing for my parents.
Wilson was a drummer in his high school band.
He is a bassist for Edgehill as well as a guitarist.
I was exposed to guitar from a young age and I am glad I did. The majority of my social life was spent in a band in middle school.
Their greatest and latest tracks
The group’s most famous song is “Shooting Glances”. The glue that brought the band together was the song writing process.
We wrote it together even though we didn’t know each other.
The speaker in the song shoots glances at a girl he wants to go after. The line was inspired by a girl that Kelly was attracted to.
The new single from Edgehill is called “Jonny’s Friend”. From Kelly’s point of view, the song follows his third encounter with a girl he’s interested in who still only thinks of him as jonny’s friend. The song has over 20,000 streams.
Edgehill’s next release is called “Love To Go” and they have already performed it at their live shows. They stated that they are making new music.
Upcoming events for Edgehill include an appearance at the music and arts festival Bummeroo, a performance in Florida, and a show in Nashville.
If you want to stay up to date with Edgehill, you can stream their show, “Jonny’s Friend” and “Shooting Glances”.
