There are some classics when it comes to soundtracks with heavy music. As I was writing this review, I realized that they came out 20 years ago.
The Spawn soundtrack featured rock artists teaming up with electronic artists and it worked and gave us some great tracks, including one featuring Australia’s very own Silverchair.
Even though the film was not much to write home about, the soundtrack is still a must have for heavy music fans.
The soundtrack for the new horror film The Retaliators deserves to be mentioned along with those two classics. For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been listening to this soundtrack a lot. There are no weak tracks to be found in the heavy music scene.
There are no weak tracks on this album and there are two of the best tracks of the year. Wolf Totem is a piece of metal featuring The Hu and Papa Roach and is a great example of modern day alternative rock. This is a track that we will listen to for a long time.
The title track of the album is put together by members of the band Asking Alexandria. There is a song in the film. It makes you want to relive it over and over again. The track has been picked up by Australian radio stations for air-play, and it is absolutely sensational.
Other tracks that are clear highlights are the country-inspired Blame It On The Double and Theory Of A Deadman’s Tyler Connolly blasting out a track that is sure to become a favorite at bars in Nashville. Eva Under Fire and Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills collaborated on a song called Blow.
Asking Alexandria work with Within Temptation is one of the most stunning collaborations here and it’s one of the tracks that will be in your collection for a long time.
It isn’t just the collaborations of this album that makes it special, there are some stand alone tracks that are absolutely gems. The ending by Papa Roach is one of the best tracks on the album.
If you like heavy music, you need to own The Retaliators soundtrack.
