Tobias Forge Reveals the Key to How Ghost Became an Arena Band

The next generation of acts will fill arenas. Ghost is one of a group of acts from multiple genres that look to be the successors to elder music acts such as the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen in keeping the arena music experience alive for years to come. Some of the keys that helped them get to their current status are discussed in the article.

Ghost’s ascension did not happen by chance. The goal was to graduate from clubs to arenas. The singer said he sat with a map and mapped out how the band traveled. If you want to be a musician, you have to tour all the time. You have to go to five shows in Wisconsin.

Forge reflected on the key to the band’s ascension, as he got to this stage. “If it wasn’t for the fact that we had a very strong merch situation, I don’t think we would ever be able to tour the way that we have done over the last 12 years”

The band will play in New York next month with an 18,000 person capacity.

According to Arthur Fogel, president of global touring at Live Nation Entertainment, there is a long list of new artists that have emerged and developed over the last 12 years. Fans are a part of the regeneration cycle.

Forge is confident that eventually the torch will be passed down as music fans look to someone else. He said he wouldn’t be concerned about rock dying.

Ghost are on a tour with Mastodon andSpiritbox. You can get your tickets here.
