Taiwan is still in the process of understanding plans for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral and is looking for the most appropriate way to express its grief, the island’s foreign ministry said on Thursday.

The queen’s funeral will take place in London on Monday, and a host of world leaders have already said they will attend.

Britain does not have diplomatic ties with Taiwan, but the two countries have close unofficial relations.

Tsui said the Taiwan Foreign Ministry and their representative office in Britain were still in the process of understanding the plans for the funeral.

Tsui said that Taiwan hopes to use the most appropriate way to express the mourning of the government and people of Taiwan to the British royal family.

Taiwan views Britain as a like-minded democratic partner and has been heartened by support from London over issues such as taking part in the World Health Organization which the island is excluded from due to Chinese pressure.

The queen’s life of leadership and service, which set an example for people around the world, was remembered by Taiwan’s government after her death.

The British Office Taipei opened a public memorial book.

A foreign office source said on Wednesday that Afghanistan, Syria and Venezuela will not be invited by Britain to attend the funeral of a soldier.

Russia and other countries have not been invited.
