
On the heels of their incredible performance at Rock In Rio with Steve Vai, the band decided to recreate that energy with a re- recorded version of their classic “Cult of Personality”

It’s available everywhere you buy and stream music. The final song of their Rock In Rio set was the most famous song of all time, and the crowd sang every word to it.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Living colour’s first appearance in Brazil, we are releasing a special edition version of “Cult”. The original producer of the song mixed and engineered it.
The first and second single from their debut album were called “Cult of Personality”. The song made it to the US Hot 100 and the album chart. It won the best hard rock performance award at the gramophone awards. It won two MTV Video Music Awards, one for Best Group Video and one for Best New Artist.
There is a living colour.
The band is from New York. The bands lineup was solidified in the 80’s w/ Vernon, Muzz, and Will. The band’s music is a fusion of jazz, heavy metal and other genres. Some of the lyrics attack Eurocentrism and racism in America.
“Vivid” was the band’s debut album. The album was certified double Platinum by the RIAA after it reached the top of the charts. There was a hit called “Glamour Boys” and a hit called “Cult of Personality”. The band won the Best Hard Rock Performance award at theGrammy Awards.
The band’s second full-length album, “Time’s Up”, was released in 1990 and certified gold, with strong singles “Type”, “Love Rears Its Ugly Head”, “Elvis Is Dead”, and “Solace of You” The album won the award for best hard rock.
In the summer of 1992, Living Colour had a replacement in place of Skillings, who had left the band in the previous year.
Their third album was released in 1993. The album had a heavy and aggressive sound and was nominated for a gramophone for ‘Leave It Alone’.
The album “Collidescope” was released in 2003 and features songs about the September 11 attacks. AC/DC and The Beatles had cover versions of their songs.
Their first release on Megaforce Records was called “The Chair in the Doorway” and reached #159 on the billboard 200.
A performance of Robert Johnson’s “Preachin’ Blues” at the 100th Birthday celebration at the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York City inspired Living Colour to make their next album. The sound of a band coming to terms with its shadows and light is what “Shade” is about. “From the blue pulpit of Robert Johnson to the mean red streets of Brooklyn… “Shade” is the next chapter of a unique American journey.”

Over the course of more than three decades, over 15 million album sales, and three GRAMMY Awards, Vai has proven himself to be a true original. A virtuoso guitarist, visionary composer, and producer who sculpts musical sound with infinite creativity.
The language of music has been advanced by the efforts of Vai. Many artists fit into a single category, but Steve vai is unclassifiable. He began taking guitar lessons when he was 12 years old. He began his career as a musician at the age of 18. Versatility and virtuosity are not exclusive for vai. He has created music for many films and video games.
Over fifteen awards and honors have been given to Vai by Guitar Player magazine. His career achievements earned him an honor from the college. The 10th greatest guitarist of all time is the 2016 Long Island Music Hall of Fame member.
The Les Paul Award was created in 1991 to honor people who have set the highest standard of excellence in the creative application of technology. Paul McCartney is one of the past recipients of the Les Paul Award.
At the peak of its popularity, Vai toured the world as a solo artist, as a member of G3 and as a member of Whitesnake.
The 1990’s breakthrough,Passion and Warfare, is one of the highlights. The Metropole Orkest performed 1 and 2. Steve Vai’s music can easily compete with that of famous contemporary composers according to the orchestra’s director.
Favored Nations Entertainment, his own independent record label, has released over 70 albums by legendary musicians, including TommyEmmanuel, Steve Lukather, Eric Johnson, Billy Sheehan, and Larry Carlton.
In support of his 16th solo album release, The Story of Light, Vai embarked on an epic three-year tour with 253 engagements in 52 countries. Stillness In Motion, a 2-CD set and 2-DVD set, was released internationally after signing a multi-recording agreement with Sony Music Entertainment and Legacy Recordings. The multi-album deal marked a return to SME for the man who set the gold and Platinum standard for instrumental rock music across a series of albums. I and I.
The Modern Primitive/Passion and Warfare 25th Anniversary Edition was released in 2016 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his landmark album,Passion and Warfare, which is considered to be one of the greatest instrumental rock guitar recordings ever. The third leg of the 25th anniversary tour will end in South America, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
In addition to his solo tour work, Vai is known for his creative live performances with orchestra around the world and for projects such as Vai Academy, Alien Guitar Secrets master classes, and Generation Axe, a unique combination of five fiercely talented guitar players in which he currently tours internationally.
The 2008 Hank Garland movie Crazy, in which he also appeared as Hank Williams, is one of the film’s credits. In the 1986 movie Crossroads, which was inspired by the legend of blues icon Robert Johnson, Vai appeared as the devil’s guitarist and collaborated with the film’s producers.
The Make a Noise Foundation was established in 1998 by Vai and Sepetys. The whole person is educated by music. The mind, the senses, and the emotions are educated by it. Due to limited financial resources, those interested in music should not have to sacrifice their skills in order to play music.
Steve wants to share his knowledge on musical and non- musical topics. Steve’s first book, Vaideology – Basic music theory for guitar players, was a huge hit.
Steve hosted a series of seminars called “Alien Guitar Secrets” during the Corona Pandemic in 2020. Steve launched a second series called “under it all” where he explored the more obscure concepts
Musical lessons, Guitar techniques, Stories from the past, and more are just some of the topics discussed on Steve’s own channel.
The first-of-its-kind features included in the Ibanez JEM guitar are the floating tremolo and monkey grip. The JEM is one of the longest running, most successful signature series guitars in history, and for over a decade its sister model, the RG, is second only to the Fender Stratocaster. The first commercial 7- string electric guitar was created by Vai. The metal culture started in the mid-90s. He collaborated with Carvin Corporation to design the Steve Vai Legacy V3 series of all-tube amplifier.
