The first place Queen Elizabeth II met her husband was the naval college.
Britannia Royal Naval College was where she met Prince Philip.
After writing to each other during World War Two, the couple married.
The staff and those training at the college have paid their respects.

The Queen and Prince Philip resided at the college, according to Dr Jane Harrold.
While the King and Queen were off, they needed someone to look after the two princesses and who better to look after a couple of princesses than a prince?
“They had met before, but those were very formal, official occasions, and Elizabeth wrote later that this was the first time she remembered meeting Philip, which I think is significant.”

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip would come back to the college to watch the naval officers pass out.
The award ceremonies may now differ a bit.
She said she was expecting that the awards for the Queen’s sword and the Queen’s telescope would now be the King’s sword and the King’s telescope.

King Charles III will not be served by officer cadets in training.
I’m very proud to have joined the Queen’s Navy, however I’m also very proud that I’ll have the chance to pass out in December in the King’s Navy.
Those who join the military do so to serve their country but also the monarchy, and there is a special relationship between everyone here and the monarchy itself.
The title of Lord High Admiral has been passed on to the King.
