It has become the longest queue in history as tens of thousands of people line up to pay their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Images visible from space show a long line of people waiting to bid farewell to their monarch.

The first McDonalds in the Soviet Union opened in 1990 and there were 30,000 Russians who waited in line.

The queue spans from the city centre to the south-eastern part of the country.

Firefighters along the route handed out warm drinks and blankets to those in need in the cold weather. There is an empty train at London’s Waterloo Station for those who can’t get home over the next few days.

The waiting time on the official government tracker app has been cut in half from 24 hours to 16 hours.

The queue has been paused twice and people have been advised not to travel to join it.

There was a second queue waiting for the queue to open again after it was paused.
