An authentic new record, ‘Alien,’ puts on display the Outsider Artist’s multi-genre range and soulful songwriting
Andrew Neil’s new release ‘Alien’ was released under the label of Tree Heart Records. There is a distinct and enigmatic appeal to the singer-songwriter’s blend of lo-fi, grunge- folk.
Neil has a new record called “Alien.” It is an amalgam of rich melodies and poetic lyrics. Andrew Neil’s songs confront themes of mental illness, suicide prevention, loneliness, and isolation. His story of recovery from both mental illness and cancer is reflected in his songs. The artist is releasing a limited-run vinyl and CDs.
Andrew Neil wrote and performed tracks for “Alien”, which was produced and engineered by Andy Waldeck. Steve Corrao was the master of the album. The cover-art was painted by Bostonian artist Daniel Benayun who has been compared to legendary pop- artists Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.
Audiences will feel like they are in the artist’s presence when listening to all of the tracks in “Alien” Andrew Neil highlights his themes of love, loneliness, and forgiveness through his delivery.
Andrew is listed on the prestigious “Rankers Best Outsider Music Artists” list, which includes legends such as Frank Zappa, Brian Wilson, and others. The only full-length album ever written and recorded in a State Psychiatric Hospital is the one by the artist.
Andrew’s fourth studio album is called “Alien” and is a continuation of his efforts to get his story out there.

There is a name in the music world that is awe-inspiring. Andrew wrote his first song on the keyboard and then on the guitar while living in his parents basement. Andrew has written over 400 songs.
Andrew was in a state hospital for three years because of a psychotic episode. He recorded scores of songs using a guitar and recorder. Andrew’s album “Code Purple” was released after he was released from Western State Hospital. He had written and recorded songs as a patient. The album is the only full-length album written and recorded by a patient in a state mental hospital.
Andrew’s first studio album was “Merry Go Round” Andrew was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer while he was recording his 2nd studio album, “Freak.” Andrew was able to finish the album between his treatments. The album was submitted for consideration at the grammy awards. He released his third studio album in June of 2021.
Andrew Neil has two albums in the works, one of which will be similar to his previous work.
Andrew Neil supports mental health issues. He wants to give hope to others who are struggling with mental health issues by sharing his story.
