Two concept plans for a recreation center were presented by Brittany Rouse.
The first time residents had an opportunity to give input was a few years ago, but early meetings were held because of the swine flu. She said that more meetings were held to incorporate more suggestions as a result of that.
A tract of land is owned by the PCDC at the intersection of E. Monte Carlo Boulevard and Beauchamp Boulevard. The land earmarked for future development was the site of both concepts presented.
The space for a gymnasium, fitness area and after school programs are some of the most requested features of a rec center.
A building with 25,000 square feet of space had been presented. There would be a restroom, locker room, group exercise space and room for a fitness center according to the concept plan.
There was a gym, racquetball courts, and a space that could be used for meetings. The floor plan of the Michael J. Felix Community Center was similar to that of the first option.
