Nria Graham shares a new song today, “Yes It’s Me, The Goldfish!”, and you can watch the visual piece directed by Marc Cusc below. There will be more music from Graham.
Graham says the song has had a lot of lives already. It’s a melody and a story that has been in my head for a long time, there are many recorded versions in my voice memos on my phone and computer. The phrase “Yes it’s me, the goldfish!” came to me one day while I was at home recording and writing, and then everything fell into place on its own. The album’s story has different narrators and fables telling the same event, which makes sense. The Goldfish is watching from the fishbowl, and as he watches through the glass, he sees that he already has all the answers. One day I asked Malcus to record a beat to play on top of, and then the whole song just presented itself.
Next week, Graham will play a show in her hometown ofVic, Spain at Mercat de la Msica Viva followed by a run of U.S. shows. Graham will tour Europe after the U.S. run, with stops in Spain, Switzerland, Germany, and more.
Nuria Graham was trained in classical guitar at the age of 16 and began writing songs and experimenting with electric guitar, piano, and production. Her first album, Bird Eyes, was released in 2015, followed by Does it Ring a Bell?, and then a European tour. Her third album, Marjorie, was a critical success.
