She is expected to be more prominent in her brother’s reign. She could be returned to the status of “Counsellor of State”, one of five top royals who would step in if the king were to fall ill.

Who is Princess Anne?
She is the second child and only daughter of the late queen and her husband, the late Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh. Princess Elizabeth was only 24 when she gave birth to her daughter, who was born August 15, 1950.
Anne was shown as a sturdy and confident child with white blond hair, playing with her brother, the more reserved and less confident Charles. They had a happy childhood with their parents.
Her mother became queen after George VI’s death in 1952. Prince Andrew was born in 1960 and Prince Edward was born in 1964.

Why is Anne called the Princess Royal?
The highest honor given to a female member of the royal family is the honorary style, which is bestowed by a monarch on the oldest daughter. Anne was 36 when she received the title from the queen.
Princess Mary, Anne’s great-aunt, the only daughter of King George V, died in 1965, making her the last Princesses Royal.

She is a great rider. Like her mother, she is a lover of horses, but the late queen focused on the racing side and Anne became a respected athlete. She won three medals at the European eventing championships.
The first member of the royal family to compete in the Olympics was Anne, who rode the queen’s horse in eventing. Halfway through the course, she suffered a concussion but, true to her strength, she remounted and finished, even though she couldn’t remember the rest of the jumps.
She is president of the British Olympic Association and a member of the IOC. She helped organize the campaign to bring the 2012 Olympics to London in the summer of the late queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
MarkPhillips was an Olympic equestrian who met Anne on the circuit and was a member of the gold medal-winning British team in 1972 The British eventing team won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics.
