Night Ranger Alumnus Jeff Watson Recovering From Brain Surgery

The former Night Ranger guitarist is doing well.

The musician posted an update on his Facebook page. He wrote that he was in the intensive care unit for two weeks after having two holes drilled through his skull to get access to his brain. Thanks to a very good and cool neurosurgeon, y’all are stuck with me for a little while.

On Wednesday, he had another procedure to stop the arteriosclerosis that was leaking into his skull. The guitarist recalled how he was taken into a surgery theater bristling with gear and gadgets that would have made Captain Kirk jealous. He was given oxygen and IV sedation, which made him sleepy.

He was sent home to recuperate after the surgery. He wrote, “Need sleep and nutrition, so more info to follow once my memories are back.” He said that he was trying to get his hands back into shape after taking a big hit on his guitar.

Night Ranger’s debut album was called Dawn Patrol. He rejoined the band in 1996 after leaving to pursue a solo career.

He told UCR in 2015 that he wouldn’t like to dwell on his departure. How it affected me was almost biblical. It was a challenge. I don’t want to get into the details of what happened. Everybody has to live with the outcome and that’s all in the rear-view mirror. I wish everyone the best in their life.

The band was doing well in the ’80s and that was a good time for him. It was enjoyable. The reunion was a great time for us and we had some great shows. It was a bit of a surprise to have the tables turned.

Mother’s Army, as well as playing as a session or touring guitarist for Dennis DeYoung and Michael Schenker Group, are just a few of the things he has done.
