New York Fashion Week Was One Big ‘After’ Party

It is a game of strength and power. Your uniform is important in determining your valor. Brand awareness and traditional business are often at odds. New York City Fashion Week is where the world congregates on the most important city in the world and it refused to close its eyes for an entire week.

The New York Fashion Week had a lot to offer. Venues all over the city were hit with looks from the Spring/Summer23 collections. The nightlife was one of the most important parts of the town. Many brands doubled down on their runway experiences for the world to see, but New Yorkers were also able to attend after-parties hosted by their favorite designers.

If you knew what shows to attend and what after-parties would complement the runways, you’d be good to go. The models are ubiquitous to fashion, but New York Fashion Week also hosted many talented musicians like Doja Cat, Fivio Foreign, Latto, Skepta, and Remy Ma, who walked in the sprayground show. G-Eazy and Diplo would play music at the after- parties.

Also on the runways were athletes like Kyle Kuzma and Usain Bolt, who walked in a show at a restaurant on Wall Street. Russell Westbrook, PJ Tucker, and Serge Ibaka were also seen at shows and events.

The streets of New York City were lively. Vfiles collaborated with Jaded London on a 3-day pop-up at 12 Mercer Street, and to commemorate the shop, they held a party at the PUBLIC hotel, with music played by notable and fashionable DJs. Matthew Williams of Givenchy and Asap Nast are recent models.

The Guizio and Levi’s party at Capitale brought out a city full of people who love fashion. A refreshed connection to fashion and the cultures it breeds was the result of the Guizio x Levi’s fashion collaboration. Many would bounce around from one after-party to the next despite the rain on September 11.

The after-party for Who Decides War would be held the same night as the Guizio x Levis party at The Standard Hotel. Attendees were moving in and out of the hotel as guests like Burna Boy made their way through the crowd.

As New Yorkers crowded doorways with a swelling number of party-goers, other guests included Kirby Jean- Raymond, founder of Pyer Moss, as well as music artists and models. The models and invitees wore looks from the designers. Everyone is styled for the camera at the after-parties.

On Tuesday, September 13, Puma hosted a star- studded runway show with an even more eclectic guest list who came to view their creative endeavor titled FutroGRADE, led by June Ambrose. The runway was turned into a dance floor. Skepta put on a performance that was focused on fun through dance moves and drinks.

Richie Akiva, a native New Yorker and global nightlife curator, hosted an after-party at the new hotel, The Ned No Mad. As the new director of programming at The Ned, Akiva gets an elite guest list that included models Imaan, Winnie Harlow, and Jasmine Sanders, as well as host celebrities like Christian Combs, Justine Sky, and Rhude fashion designer Rhuigi.

The goth style was prevalent not only at the runway show but also at the after party.

The celebrities would slip into the after- party without being noticed. Some of G-Eazy’s hit songs would be played on the turntables while he was there. When G-Eazy retired from his set, DJs like Odalys, Jordy Spice, and the designer who goes by DJ nameShaneaveli dove into house music to keep the party going.

The after-parties made the city come to life in a way that called back to the essence of nightlife, even though the fashion shows were the reason for arriving in New York. The aura of fashion and this go hand in hand.

Fashion week in New York gives access to fashion designers and others who choose to participate in fashion for a chance to thrive, because of the abundance of talent in the city. The exclusiveness of the party may be more accessible in this generation. The number of parties held was a sign of the fashion community’s access to its communities and cultures.
