The stars came out in droves for New York Fashion Week, an event that was back in full force after a week of style.
The eight-day string of runway shows, exhibitions, and parties from the biggest names in clothing design came to a close on Wednesday.
Showcasing collections for the upcoming Spring/Summer23 season, festivities felt more alive than in the past. Designers were flanked by celebrities and top models were strutting with legs for days.
The sisters closed out Tom Ford’s disco-tinged show on Wednesday night in sequined gowns. Earlier in the week, she walked in the Proenza Schouler show with her friend, and later at the New York Fashion Week after party, she was spotted with her rumored new beau Leonardo DiCaprio.
NYFW’s greatest moment of “life imitates art” was capped off with an homage to the cult movie The Devil Wears Prada. Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, was the inspiration for Miranda Priestly in the movie, and Anne Hathaway sat next to her at the Michael Kors show.
As a result, fashion fans were left with a full-blown nerd-out, because of the similarity of her attire to her film character.
New York Fashion Week sees tributes to New York City
The first show of the week was held at the former New York City home of Elizabeth Taylor.
KimKardashian was in the first row next to LaLa Anthony, Naomi Watts, and Sarah JessicaParker, thanks to Sex and the City.
Serena Williams took her new motto to heart just days after her final career match at the US Open, which coincides with New York’s surrounding buzz of the US Open. On Monday, she served up new designs from her S by Serena clothing line on a replica tennis court at NYFW’s Spring Street headquarters.
The athlete walked in the Vogue World show and was captured attending more shows.
Downtown at 3 World Trade Center is a part of the city filled with the legacy of the tragic 9/11 attacks. Future features designers Mauricio Alpizar, Maya Seyferth, Host & Var, Kaiane Designs, and Dog Pound x The Tailory, set against a backdrop of New York’s skyline and its up-and-comers.
Hundreds of smaller Fashion Week events were attended by social media stars.
New York Fashion Week sees music finest making waves
Heavy hitters from the music world made their presence felt in NYC.
During the Coach’s show, Nas X was able to grab the attention of the crowd, and then performed at the Vogue World showcase. Jack Harlow took to the stage at the event with his bestie. Doja Cat sat with Madonna at a show on Saturday.
Tommy Hilfiger’s runway return made a splash in the rain at the Skyline Drive-In movie theater in Brooklyn, as models Winnie Harlow, Ashly Graham, and Julia Fox reportedly walked to tunes by Megan Thee Stallion and Beyblade. Seated front row were John Legend, Shawn Mendes, Kate Moss, Kris Jenner, and her husband, who gave the audience a surprise drum set to close out the show.
The reality star’s new collection was on display at the High Line runway show, which had a power outage.
West didn’t let this year’s NYFW pass by without making a mark. The rapper hosted an impromptu party on Tuesday night to promote his YEEZY GAP SHDZ sunglasses, one of his recent over-the-top collaborations with Gap. Chris Rock was one of the special guests.
This fall’s New York Fashion Week showed that it isn’t just about the style scene, but who to see and be seen too.
