The Apple Watch medals have been updated to show how many times you have run a particular distance with the watch around your wrist.

Some people do not like virtual medals. Some people like to refer to them as a way of giving them incentive to keep active. Apple has allowed Apple Watch owners to earn a selection of medals for various achievements for a long time. It is similar to the gamified world that we live in.

There are medals that can be earned if you work out a certain amount of time, run a certain distance or burn a certain number of calories. The company allows users to earn limited time badges.

The recent National Parks challenge is an example of this. A user has to complete a certain task.

The Apple Watch badges have received a bit of a refresh as a result of the newios. There are some new medals in the list of medals in the phone app. Many people were interested in the 5K badges. There is a label at the bottom showing how many times you have completed the distance.

There are a number of running distances such as 5K, 10K, half-marathons and more. It’s worth mentioning that Apple rounds off the figures. If you have run 4.5 km and 6 km, you will increase your 5K run count. It doesn’t require the exact distance in order to increase the count of a badges.

The company didn’t double these distances across medals. It will only qualify as a 10K if it’s a 10K. By the logic of 5K + 5K, it will not increase by two points.

Only runs recorded in the Apple fitness app count towards the total If you track activity in Strava, this will not show up in these awards.

To get into the new medals, you will need to update to the latest version of the software. As of a few days ago, watchOS 9 was also made available.

The medal revamping isn’t over at the above location. The badges show the longest completed distances for running, hiking, swimming, and cycling.
