A man from Yemen was arrested in Mecca for performing a pilgrimage on behalf of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

After posting a video of himself in Mecca’s Grand Mosque with a banner calling for God to accept the queen into heaven, the pilgrim went viral. Saudi Netizens called for the man’s arrest after seeing the video, which they saw as sacrilege. Posters and pilgrimages on behalf of non-Muslims are not allowed in the Grand Mosque according to the Guardian.

Security forces at the Grand Mosque arrested a resident of Yemen who appeared in a video clip carrying a banner inside the mosque, violating the regulations and instructions for umrah, according to a report. He was referred to the public prosecution after legal measures were taken against him.
