We all have different preferences when it comes to running shoes, with some of us looking for a shoe that will give us a spring in our step, some of us looking for a shoe that’s light enough to finally reach a personal best.

A tried and tested process is what makes the best running shoes. I was looking forward to having one pair of shoes which would be supportive enough to do strength workouts in, then run home from the gym in, without having to take another pair with me.

I wasn’t sure if it was an innovative all-around gym shoe or not. I knew I had to do 10K distances at least once a week and I also had to do strength workouts a couple of times a week.

I missed my favorite running trainers during my first run. Even though the Chargefeel shoes moved with me, they didn’t feel very stable or secure, and I think running trainers need comfort, flexibility, and stability. It feels as though the trainers hug my feet and give me the flexibility I need, which is why I like them so much.

In the gym, the design of the Chargefeel trainers, which come with a collar and a thin upper, helped support me through weighted squats and other strength or HIIT-based exercises, while its mid and outsole allowed for perfectly supported side-to- side.

It was a completely different game to run. Although the springy sole gave me some leverage while running the lack of support made me think too much about my trainers, instead of completing my 10k in time. The flimsy tongue and laces, which often loosened or came undone, did nothing to make me feel secure. It wasn’t a good start for my training. I thought I might have to wear them in, but after a few short runs, I didn’t see any improvement.

I have tried a range of trainers, including some of the best eco-frendly running shoes, but I always default back to the same brand. The trainer’s uppers look good and allow my feet to sweat less. The comfort and strength of the trainer tounges and heel counter help to give me the support I need.

Gym workouts and running are not the same sport. Your body and feet are under a lot of stress as you pound the pavement. It is not possible for a running-specific trainer to cover all bases.

Sports companies spend years honing the technologies and fabrics that go into a running trainer, bringing out new additions as they improve on their technologies, so hopefully, we’ll see an upgraded Chargefeel trainer from the brand soon.

Earlier this year, the brand launched a running shoe. If you are more of a runner than a gym goer, then you should check out the shoe, which is specifically designed for women and has a better fit according to feedback from one million women.

Even though I won’t be running to the gym, or completing 10K runs in my Chargefeel trainers again, I’m happy to say they’ve become a staple in my fitness wardrobe.
