The Hingham Public Library has submitted a September 13, 2022, submission.
As part of the ongoing concert series presented by Hingham Public Library in partnership with the Boston Classical Guitar Society, talented guitarist and composer Thatcher Harrison will perform live Sunday, September 18 at 3 p.m.
Harrison plays classical and jazz guitars, as well as fingerstyle and popular/rock guitars. He combines influences from many genres of music to create pieces that satisfy both the heart and mind. Harrison won 20 prizes and was a winner in the National YoungArts Foundation Competition.
Harrison specializes in what he calls “classical fusion” composition, pieces based in classical composition and performance techniques but with influences from jazz music, rock music, fingerstyle guitar music, film score music, and world music. Harrison’s upcoming concert season will see him expand into the international scene, performing at guitar and music festivals in Bulgaria, the Netherlands, and Canada.
Harrison has performed at Carnegie Hall, Jordan Hall, Symphony Hall, the Baryshnikov Arts Center, and RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.
Harrison is studying for his Bachelor of Music degree in classical guitar performance at New England Conservatory, and he is also studying privately with flamenco virtuosos. He studied with William Riley prior to attending the conservatories.
Thanks to the support of Coastal Heritage Bank, the library and the BCGS are able to present this season’s concert series.
