
It is difficult to imagine George Harrison without his guitar work. George was playing guitar before The Beatles broke up. He never stopped playing it because of the style. He would black out sometimes when the melody he made hypnotized him.

George realized he was out of touch with the instrument when he picked it up again. George couldn’t make anything sound good on the guitar.
He learned how to play the guitar. George told Crawdaddy that all the young kids coming up were playing so good that he hadn’t been involved with it for a long time. One of the reasons I had all the instruments was because I was behind.
Eric gave me the Les Paul which really got me back into it, because it sounded so funky. I started playing slide because I was behind in playing hot licks. I just got a slide and began playing.

His peers inspired him to experiment as well. George’s guitar playing changed after he received his first sitar lesson.
George could not identify what made him play his slide guitar. He thought it had something to do with playing with the two girls.
George was unsure of the influences. I played slide for the first time in 1969 I think I stuck one of those things on my finger, but Eric was a member of the band at that time.
