Friday Top: 15 Great Songs With Awful Music Videos

The people of the community discussed the matter of great songs with bad music videos. We put this one into a top 15 list based on votes and comments.

15. Deftones – Hole in the Earth

The 2000s were the peak of chesiness Everyone wanted to try out the new technology. While the camera work is great and everything was up to standard for the time, we still feel weirded out by the 2-tier animations that didn’t age well.

14. AC/DC – Play Ball

Looking at the trend of music videos in rock music from the mid-2010s to the present day, one could conclude that they either stopped caring about the video aspect or that it became too unprofitable. The song “Play Ball” by AC/DC looks terrible. Some of their previous videos may have been a little too good to be true. It’s sad.

13. Dire Straits – Tunnel of Love

The sound of “Tunnel of Love” is similar to AC/DC’s sexual innuendo. The song’s video was not that bad. It is a bit boring and pretentious. The original video for the song had a real story in it. The other one is not normal.

12. Kansas – Point of Know Return

Kansas, or anyone who represented them at the time, didn’t care about having a good music video. A late 1970s band performs with some added effects that felt cool at the time in this video.

11. Black Sabbath – Zero the Hero

Someone decided that Ian Gillan in Black Sabbath was crazy enough to do music videos. Tony Iommi has a song called “Zero the Hero”. The video wasn’t good. We hope that more people will learn about this masterpiece. They might have hired a low-budget state-owned company to do it.

10. Savatage – Hall of the Mountain King

A band that is innovative will never be recognized. The song “Hall of the Mountain King” stands out from the spandex-filled sleazy metal party anthem of the 1980’s. It would be better if it had a music video.

9. Metallica – Until It Sleeps

No matter what the topic is, every list should includeMetallica. Their video for “Until It Sleeps” took the 9th spot despite not reaching the top. The community didn’t like the acting that was done by the man.

8. Kiss – Lick It Up

The group of middle-aged men are singing the line over and over again. The idea of getting rid of makeup was intriguing. Find something to cover Gene Simmons.

7. Dio – Holy Diver

After leaving Black Sabbath, he formed his own band. There was an incredible career ahead of him after listening to what he had to offer. He could have gotten a better music video for Holy Diver. In all honesty, this was ridiculous.

6. Judas Priest – Hot Rockin’

The video is called a “DYEL” Who took their money? Is it possible that someone swapped their food with coke.

5. Styx – Too Much Time on My Hands

The band performs video is presented again. This is followed by a cheap story. It is cute in some ways. This song deserved a lot more.

4. Billy Squier – Rock Me Tonite

Billy Squier is remembered as the guy who ruined his career by making a music video. “Rock Me Tonite” was a big hit. The video was very strange. There is a story behind the video and how Squier objected to some of the director’s ideas The video caused ticket sales to go down.

The story proves that you can’t let others mess with your vision and image. Businesses can be ruined by it.

3. Journey – Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)

Journey with “Separate Ways” is on the third spot. The music video was not great. It didn’t ruin their career but people were a bit weirded out by it.

2. David Bowie and Mick Jagger – Dancing in the Street

There have been a few different versions of the song. The two biggest ones are by David Bowie and Mick Jagger. Even though the single topped the charts in the UK and the US, people still didn’t pay much attention to the video.

1. Rush – Time Stand Still

Rush and their classic “Time Stand Still” are the top choice. Rush’s masterpiece is a pure progressive rock masterpiece. The video doesn’t fall flat. You will not pay attention to the song if you watch the video. We don’t know what Zbigniew Rybczyski had in mind, but it looks like someone left them over.
