One of the first punk rock musicians to come out as trans was Laura Jane Grace. Grace’s debut solo album Stay Alive was released in October 2020 through Polyvinyl Record Co. She stopped at The Raccoon Motel in Davenport, Iowa before starting her tour in Canada.

I made the trek from Chicago because of the name of the venue, but Grace was playing there as well. It’s time to count me in.

Everlasting Light, a black metal band from the Quad Cities, opened the sold-out show.

The next project was called Planning for Burial. His solo act featured sound effects that ranged from shoegaze to doom.
Grace was welcomed to the stage with a loud cheer. Grace has a melodic yet raw sound with her acoustic guitar, and her outspoken songs and powerful voice completely dominated the room.
