Vince Gill’s incredible country music career was the subject of the newest segment of the show.

The episode featured 10 performances of Vince’s classics by other noted country music stars including features by Chris Stapleton, and was a nod to Vince’s incredible career over the years.

She praised Vince Gill’s willingness to put his faith and feelings into a song without shying away, something she has prioritized in her music career.

Carrie gave the best performance of the night with her cover of Vince’s “Go Rest High on That Mountain”

Vince Gill finished the song after the sudden and unexpected death of his brother, and the song was originally written to express his grief.

He didn’t know if people would listen to the song. The song was all about Vince processing his pain by picking up a guitar and playing it.

Vince recalled the beginning of the song and assumed that no one would listen to it when he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

He shared something.

It will be this one if anyone remembers any of my songs.

CMT made a great decision in allowing Carrie to honor the track, which represents everything she appreciates so much about Vince Gill, and also packs all of the punch Carrie delivers when she honors any of country music’s greats.

The look of admiration on Vince Gill’s face for Carrie’s performance is the most significant moment of all.

The performance is a 10/10 in powerhouse vocals and emotional response, so grab your tissues and watch.
