During a recent event, Bruce Springsteen let the magazine’s founder Jann Wenner know about the magazine’s grievances.

The 92nd Street Y in New York City hosted a conversation event between The Boss and Wenner to promote Wenner’s book Like A Rolling Stone.

During the event, Bruce said that he wasn’t on the cover of Rolling Stone when he came out. They were a little hesitant about putting me on the cover when that record came out. I was on the cover of two magazines.

During the Born to Run era, Newsweek and Time were seen as the establishment. He would appear on the cover of Rolling Stone over and over again. The Time and Newsweek covers got into trouble with the IRS.

When he was on the cover of Time and Newsweek, he didn’t pay taxes until 10 years later.
