The Blind Boys of Alabama have collaborated with Black Violin on a song called “The Message”. Over a spirited drum beat, anthemic string arrangement from Black Violin and blazing electric guitar, “The Message” reminds us of a classic and timeless truth: “we’re all in this together.”

The Blind Boys of Alabama’s Jimmy Carter had a song written by one of their friends. He was so good at getting that sound from the B3 that we nicknamed him “Church Boy” This song has a very modern sound. The Blind Boys can stand behind the message that God is still in control, even though it isn’t a traditional sound. We collaborated with the guys in Black Violin on this song and it was fun. We would like to think that we are doing the same thing in our field as they are doing in music.

Black Violin was able to tour with the Blind Boys of Alabama last summer, and they are an inspiration not only to Black Violin but to the world. The blind boys of Alabama do the same thing as we do.

Single Lock Records has a song called “The Message” by Blind Boys of Alabama.

Benjamin Moore Jr, a member of the Blind Boys, passed away earlier this year at the age of 80. “He was an important part of our group, not just as a talented singer but as a kind and dependable friend,” said the group’s Ricky McKinnie. The song is the latest in a string of cross-genre collaborations for the Gospel Music Hall of Fame members. Over the years, the Blind Boys have collaborated with a number of other legends including Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt and Tom Waits.

“The Message” was co-written and co-produced by Peter and Black Violin. The song touches on some important social issues and is very relevant to this moment. The cherry on top of the song was the addition of Black Violin and Marcus King’s guitar. I have been working with the Blind Boys as a keyboard player since 2008 and it was a pleasure to work with them in this new capacity. The Blind Boys are the perfect people to bring this song to life.
