New York Fashion Week continues with Selkie, The Blonds and more eye-popping looks

New York Fashion Week is back in action, and the fierce looks just keep on giving. The weeklong event welcomed some of the biggest designers, models and celebrities to the Big Apple as designers showcase their spring/summer 2023 collections. Selkie, Theophilio, LaPointe and Kenneth Nicholson set the tone for next year’s trends on its final day.

Vivienne Tam experimented with fashion and technology with its “METAVERSE, PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE” collection. The Blonds took a more is more approach with bold prints and bedazzled pieces. Batsheva dressed its models in fun frocks with a variety of prints.  Jamaican-born designer Edvin Thompson brightened up NYFW like a glowstick with his latest Theophilio collection on Sept. 14.  Thompson’s playful use of bold color and accessible garments is a club-kid couture fantasy come to life. American womenswear designer Sally LaPointe elevated the girl boss aesthetic with her collection at NYFW on Sept. 14, offering a vibrant assortment of casual and semiformal suits that enhance the feminine silhouette with effortless cool. American luxury menswear designer Kenneth Nicholson is reimagining businesswear with experimental flair.  Nicholson’s designs interplay masculine and feminine elements, as well as use formal garments in a nontraditional way. Fashion designer Alexandra O’Neill’s Markarian spring/summer collection offered both larger-than-life and body-hugging silhouettes with a flirty vibe. From more muted, classic colors to bright and bold yellows and pinks — there was a little bit for everyone.  Vivienne Tam is bridging the virtual world with the material realm with her 2023 spring/summer collection.  The fashion designer used numerous avatars from the most iconic blue chip NFT collections and incorporated them into her runway looks.
