The average cost of a new car in August is $46,259. It is an all time high for new car prices. In roughly a dozen states, the average price for a gallon of gas is in the range of $4 to $4.70, according to the American Automobile Association.

The report of the top cars and SUVs was released by Consumer Reports. The models have sold for between 1 and 7 percent over the price. Consumer Reports said that it is as good as it gets.

The cars on the list are regular internal combustion engine vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and EV picks. Since limited availability can drive the price higher, the survey excludes vehicles with less than 300 models.

2022 Toyota Corolla LE CVT

Under optimal conditions, this compact sedan can get up to 45 miles per gallon. While it may not win any contests for prestige, the Toyota corolla is still considered very reliable and drivers love it. The average price of $21,181 is just $308 over the sticker price, making it the best value, hands down.

2022 Lexus RX

According to Consumer Reports, this luxury mid-size SUV has an incentive of up to $2,000 cash back through October 3, 2022. Enjoy 22 miles per gallon and a vehicle with a lot of style.

2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

Thanks to its hybrid engine, this SUV has a fuel efficiency of 37 miles per gallon. The sticker price is close to the average price.

2022 Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry has been rated the no. 1 sedan by J.D. Power for the past two years. You can get one for an average price of $27,381, just $1,536 over the sticker price, and enjoy comfort, style and 32 miles per gallon. 49 miles per gallon on the highway is offered by this model.

Toyota Highlander Hybrid XLE AWD

The Toyota Highlander has been a family favorite for a long time. 35 miles per gallon is achieved by the hybrid engine. The third-row family SUV is hard to find for less than $50,000. When you consider the fuel cost savings, the SUV is a great value.

There are a lot of high-quality compact cars on this list. The Civic Sport Sedan has a retail price of $23,955. There is an average transaction price.

The Ford mustang mach-e premium is the only electric vehicle that makes the list. You will be able to enjoy a range of 90 mpge. The new mustang mach-e will cost $4,134 more than the previous price. Remember to look into federal and state tax credits for the purchase of an electric vehicle.

2022 Toyota Prius LE

The first and most well-known hybrid vehicle, the Prius, used to be almost synonymous with the term hybrid. The car features updated styling for a fun and sport look while delivering excellent fuel efficiency of 52 miles per gallon. It can be had for less than $30,000 with an average transaction price.
