Bodybuilders Brett Wilkin and Hunter Labrada Performs a Blistering Arm Workout Before Guest Posing – Fitness Volt

Hunter Labrada is considered to be one of the best bodybuilders of his generation, as evidenced by the fact that he competes in the open division of the IFBB Pro league. He has seen many ups and downs in his career. He competed at the Puerto Rico Pro and the Toronto Pro Supershow after earning his Pro card in the Classic Physique division. He surprised everyone by placing second at the Chicago Pro in the Open division, two years after he switched to it. He finished sixth in the Arnold Classic.

The son of Lee Labrada is a top Open division competitor. The 30-year-old made his professional debut by winning the 2020 Tampa Pro, which earned him a direct qualification to the 2020 Olympia. Labrada wanted to get to the top and won the Chicago Pro and grabbed fourth place.

Labrada and Wilkin have posed together for three years in a row. On the day of the guest posing, the duo hit the gym and did an arms workout to get their guns ready. The session was recorded in August at the time of the Colorado cup event in Denver and posted on Wilkin’s YouTube channel.

Brett Wilkin and Hunter Labrada go through an arms workout

They started the workout with resistance band movements to open up their joints and get blood flowing into their arms. As they warmed up, the duo tossed exercise ideas off each other. The training session consisted of alternating between bicep and triceps exercises. The method allows the muscles to recover between exercises.

Single-arm standing preacher curl

This was the first exercise in the arms workout. The preacher curl is the best isolation exercise. The biceps carry out the entire movement without help from other muscle groups since the triceps are pressed against the shoulder and pad.

“We’ll start off here a little bit lighter, warm it up and crank it up!” Wilkin said.

The exercise was started with a 25-pound dumbbell by Labrada and Wilkin. They did the final set with a 55 pound dumbbell, after working their way up.

Single-arm cable triceps extension

The duo did the single-arm cable triceps extensions on a pulley machine.

Labrada used a D-handle bar attachment instead of a rope for the exercise. Keeping the shoulders locked is important to isolating the triceps. Good joint alignment and a full range of motion can be achieved with this movement.

Machine preacher curl

The duo used the Cybex preacher curl machine to perform bilateral preacher curls.

This exercise was the second of the day. The first few sets were done with the rope attachment and then with cuffs. Compared to the rope attachment, cuffs enable a wider range of motion and help achieve better muscle contraction by allowing the arms to extend all the way out.

Rope pushdown

This exercise was the last one for Labrada and Wilkin. The stretch pause principle was used by Wilkin to get the most out of the exercise and guided Labrada through it as well. He explained the situation.

“10 reps, stretches for 10 to 15 seconds… 10 reps, stretches for 10 to 15 seconds, and failure reps. So it’s a brutal one because you’re really only stretching when you’re resting… it hurts bad.”

The Butcher and the Labrada scion were off-season at the time of this video. Both have begun the prep for their respective events.

The Romania Muscle Fest Pro is scheduled to take place in November. He needs a win at this event to get a direct qualification for the Olympics.

Labrada is in the running for the top spot along with reigning Mr. Olympia Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay, Brandon Curry, and Nick Walker.

Andrew Jacked and Blessing Awodibu’s addition to the roster has created a lot of hype in the open division. There is no denying that the road to victory will get more difficult for everyone if Wilkin is able to win the Romania Muscle Fest Pro.
