While mourning Queen Elizabeth II who died last week at the age of 96, Prince William and Kate Middleton have kept their children out of the spotlight and focused on their education.
The newly-appointed Prince and Princess of Wales brought Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to their new school two days before Her Majesty died.
William, Prince Harry and their father, King Charles III, walked behind the Queen’s coffin as it was transported from Buckingham Palace. Her funeral will take place on Monday, September 21.
Hilary Fordwich, a royal expert, said that William and Kate planned to keep some sense of normalcy for their children after the Queen died.
Queen Elizabeth II is in state ahead of the funeral.

William, heir to the throne, tended to his fatherly duties last week as he escorted his kids to school. While the children were present for the Queen’s Jubilee festivities in June, they have yet to be present for any of her funeral arrangements.

During the Platinum Jubilee, the children looked bored but you can’t have that for the Queen’s funeral. I will be surprised if George doesn’t go because I think William and Kate will want to get this into his mind, as a future King himself.
It’s almost certain that the royals would want at least their oldest son, Prince George, at the funeral.

The Prince of Wales has just made William his heir. For the last 40 years, Prince William has been aware that this day would come. Although William and Kate’s priority is usually their three children, this is when they really have to just drop everything and focus on the aspects of their job, which they also take incredibly seriously.

The schools are open and they haven’t wanted to interrupt the children’s education. A lot of schools don’t have the option of closing for the whole 10 day period, so there is a period of mourning but it is voluntary.
The children spent a lot of time with the Queen, and they affectionately called her “Gan-Gan,” according to Fordwich.

The Prince and Princess of Wales moved to a cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle to be closer to the Queen. They were moving out of London because they wanted to be closer to her and to give the kids a more normal family environment.

The Queen’s relationship with her great-grandchildren was special, and William and Kate made as much time as possible for their kids to bond with her, even through a difficult lockdown which applied to her and the royals as much as it did to everybody.
He said that the relationship was evident before she died. The example of the Queen, William and Kate, not just as parents but as Prince and Princess of Wales, is a hint of what George, also Charlotte and Louis are going to have to face in their life.
