Between hydrogen fuel cars and battery electric passenger vehicles, it’s the rechargeable options that more consumers have preferred. There are some H2 powered vehicles available to drivers with enough of a budget and who plan to stick around where the few public pumps are currently available.
There are currently two H2-powered passenger vehicles publicly available in select markets.

The Honda Clarity was produced between 2016 and 2021.

The first mass produced H2 fuel cell vehicle is the Toyota Mirai. The first generation of the vehicle was sold primarily in the Los Angeles area of California, but it was also sold in some European markets. The Mirais were sold by the end of the year.

Though many automakers started looking at hydrogen fuel cars, many also turned to battery electrics.
The potential for H2 as a zero-emission passenger vehicle fuel had been looked into by BMW, Ford, Nissan, and Daimler AG.
Some manufacturers abandoned hydrogen fuel cars altogether, but others chose to focus on H2 instead.
