The new guitar was inspired by Shawn’s go-to vintage Martin and features classic Shawn imagery, as well as being comfortable and eco-friendly. This edition comes with a gig bag made from recycled ocean plastic and is crafted with 100% Forest Stewardship Council certified tonewood. It is the first time a Martin guitar has been used with a gig bag made from recycled ocean plastic, and it is the largest production run of 100% FSC certified guitars Martin has ever completed. The retail price of $799 is accessible to avid collectors and first time buyers.
The creation of this guitar with Martin has been a dream of mine. The Shawn Foundation’s initiatives are supported by the signature we created together, and it is something I’m proud of musically, but also because it is aligned with my passion for sustainable living. I can’t wait to share a guitar with my fans.
All of Shawn’s fans will appreciate some of the personal design details that are included in his signature guitar. The swallow is inspired by the tattoo on Shawn’s right hand. Each instrument has a special label with the Shawn Mendes Foundation logo. Shawn’s signature is on top of the fretboard.
The guitar is comfortable for any player. It’s good for strumming on the couch, on the beach, or around a campfire. It also sounds great on the stage. This guitar is something you will never part with.
A sample of Shawn’s lyrics is hidden inside the guitar. You can find lasers under the bridge or on a brace. “We lay under the same stars” or “You’ll never be alone” are two of the phrases.
Martin Guitars supports the goal of making music accessible to everyone. Martin will be making a contribution to the Wonder of Music program at The Hospital for Sick Children. SickKids, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is Canada’s most research intensive hospital and the largest center dedicated to improving children’s health in the state. The Wonder of Music Program aims to fund music therapy activities that are accessible to young patients at the Toronto hospital, with activities such as first exposure to music, heartbeat songs for families of patients, and lullabies.
