10,000 Model Y cars have been built to date, according to a statement from the company.
In order to take his electric car company to the next phase of growth, Musk opened the Austin, Texas-based Gigafactory.
Ten thousand Model Ys have been built at the Texas facility.
A new car that is likely to go into production next year was displayed byTesla along with Cybertruck.
Musk now says that Cybertruck could be delivered in mid-2023, after several delays.
Musk told analysts during the June quarter that they will bring another level of simplicity and manufacturing improvements with Cybertruck and future products.
The team is focused on Cybertruck production readiness and some future platform design. The Cybertruck is expected to be in production in the middle of next year.
The Texas Gigafactory is one of four manufacturing facilities in the US, the others being a battery factory in Nevada and a solar plant in New York.
The company opened its first European factory in Berlin, Germany.
There is no place like Texas where we can be large. Musk said that they were going to move to a huge scale.
