An old friend of mine, Lainey Wilson, posted a video and pictures of the two of them together over the years to wish her friend good luck on his tour.
Wilson posted the video and two photos on her social media accounts. The clip shows her and Combs performing in front of a studio audience. It’s not clear what song they’re singing, but their voices join in close harmony as they sing, “Didn’t know it then, but I sure do now.”
The next photos show the pair sitting at a table with notebooks and hanging out in a restaurant.
Wilson writes that they have come a long way and that time has done them good. I wish you good luck on your tour tonight. Can’t wait to join the stadium world tour in the spring and summer, can’t wait to meet ya out there. Don’t forget to grab your tickets.
The Middle of Somewhere Tour will begin on October 17. Also on the tour are Jordan Davis and Morgan Wade. Wilson is going on a world tour with Combs.
When she said they’d both come a long way, she was not exaggerating. Since his debut single, “Hurricane,” he has 13 No. 1 singles in a row. His current single, “The Kind of Love We Make,” is likely poised to reach No. 1 as well, and he is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the upcoming Country Music Association Awards.
She collaborated with Cole Swindell on “Never Say Never” and scored a No. 1 hit. “Heart Like a Truck” is the lead single from her upcoming album, Bell Bottom Country, which will be released in October. Wilson is set to make her acting debut as a musician in the fifth season of the show. On November 13th, there will be a premiere of Yellowstone.
The nominations for the 2022 CMA Awards show voter bias toward a certain kind of country music. This annual list of snubs and surprises shines a bright light on a favored sound.
