Leon High’s 30-year high school reunion was crashed by me in a column I wrote for the Democrat.
I said in the last column that I would do my best to catch the stadium tour.

The Dowlings were at the home of the Las Vegas Raiders on the last night of the tour. The seven-hour spectacle of musical greatness can only be described as a celebration of an era, of life, and rock and Roll in general.
It was a rock show for the ages and the trek included our first plane ride out of Florida since early 2020 as well as the first big rock show since 2019.
Two Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members, Joan Jett and Def Leppard, are the kings of the Sunset Strip, while Mtley Cre sold 100 million records worldwide.

You felt like you got your money’s worth after Joan Jett sang “I love Rock and Roll”. As 50,000 people sang along to the song “Pour Some Sugar on Me” by Def Leppard, it was obvious that the hit song was very good.
It was like being back in 1984 when I went to the fair, the pep rally, and the skating rink.
It was cool to see Catching Poison in middle school with Ratt. The first time I saw Mtley Cre was on MTV, followed by the 1984 “Shout at the Devil” and the 1984 “Photograph” videos.
Michael Jackson and other legends have had back-to-back Diamond albums with 10 million units sold each, and it’s up there withDL.
Florida in 1984 was a great place to live.
You had a lot of interesting events in the state and nation. Ronald Reagan defeated Walter Mondale to stay in office.
Reagan did not carry every county in Florida. There was a county in Florida.
South Florida and Leon County are usually bluer than Smurf Village, but times were different when red was the color of Florida.
The NCAA took away the SEC title from the Florida Gators after they were found to have violated NCAA rules. The Gators 1984 SEC Champs can be found in a lot of different places.
You had to go to the movies at the theater if you wanted to top the list. Is it possible that it was just becoming a thing? It was off to a slow start from the beginning. It is still crazy to look back on the pre- internet era.
It was very different from the 1980s show I saw with Guns N’ Roses opening. The year 1984 was all about music, video games, my first guitar, and going to the mall.
The Summer Olympics were boycotted by the Soviet Union in 1984 as the Cold War raged on. Bobby Joe Long was a serial killer who killed nine people in the area.

We left the metal show on a rickshaw and were exhausted. As we traveled at 4 mph, we listened to Eazy-E in the rickshaw as we traveled back to Las Vegas.
It was a long day and a great night in Sin City.
We were going to return to Florida on Sept. 11. There was a sad day in America and a sad day for travel.
Between the security checkpoint and the layovers, the chance of perspective continued. It was important to remember the memory of a united America. Most of those people are still in the united country, even though it might seem like it’s gone. We are going through some tough times and not the last. Poison drummer Ricki Rocket waved a flag during the show.
The next one is for our veterans and the greatest nation on Earth. They said, “No politics, no BS, just the truth”

Inflation, riots in our cities, war overseas, shortages, all of the things we have seen recently remind me that most issues can be solved.
I hope you had a good time traveling to a simpler time. It wasn’t “Little House on the Prairie” but it was the olden days.
While at the Dallas airport, I was able to gather these thoughts, which I had forgotten. As we look forward to more football in Florida (ooof, Florida Gators) and Christmas trees being for sale any day, we look back to the words ofDef Leppard and thank them for the best show in ages.
