Local musician spreading love, hope through music

The musician is trying to spread the message of love and hope to those who are going through the struggles of addiction.

Allen started playing the guitar in 2010 and moved on to perform in 2015. He was inspired to create an album when he was working at Conewago Drug and Alcohol.

Allen has worked at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center for four months. I gained a lot of experience with people that were addicted to drugs. A lot of men are older than I am. I wrote this first album because of my experience.

When it came to the genre of music that Allen wanted to play for his album, he just looked back on his roots and found country music to be just what he was looking for. George Jones was one of the country legends Allen drew inspiration from.

When Allen was in high school, he liked metal and rock music. When I got to college, I picked up a guitar and started playing bluegrass music.

Allen said country music, like Waylen Jennings, Mark Haggard, and George Jones, drew him in. That is the kind of music I try to put out there.

Allen’s experience working with people who were struggling with addiction was one of the things he added to the album.

I’m really my family. Allen said there is a lot in the album. After my daughter was born, I wrote a song for her. I wrote a song for my son when he was young. There is a song about addiction in there for my grandpa, and I learned a lot in drug and alcohol rehabilitation. I was inspired by that.

It took Allen a little while to start working on the album. When the world closed due to the flu, Allen quickly got to work on his album.

I did it all myself and it was great. Allen had been saying for a long time that he was going to it. We all had a lot of time after Covid. I’ve learned how to use my book. It felt good to say I did it.

His album was released to the public in June of 2020. Allen said he received a lot of positive feedback. All of it is appreciated by him.

Allen said that whenever someone hears a song he writes it is always a good reaction. People say your words mean something to them. The song was written for my daughter. It is music people can relate to.

There will be more in the future. There is another album in the works. Allen wants to release two albums to end the year in a big way.

Allen hopes to have another CD out by the end of the year. I have enough for both a country album and a whole Gospel album, that’s right. It would be great to have that out. It would be better if everyone could hear it.
