David Beckham stood in the long line of British people waiting to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II.

The former captain of the English national soccer team and ex-midfielder for Manchester United was recognized by the people in line. They asked for selfies with the celebrity, but left him alone as a royal subject.

Beckham said in news reports that he had been in line for over two hours. During the wait, he shared snacks with his line mates.

He talked about snacking on donuts and crisps with his fellow queuers.

Beckham wiped away a tear when he got into the hall after meeting the queen several times. Beckham closed his eyes briefly.

Beckham received an Order of the British Empire for his services to football from the queen in 2003 and he spoke of his pride at singing “God Save the Queen” before matches.
