North Versailles is in Pennsylvania. Thieves are finding new ways to steal cars in a matter of seconds, so police are warning car owners.
The police department in North Versailles warned car owners that thieves are using plugs to steal their cars.
Police said in a post that if you have a cell phone charging cord in your car, you will essentially be leaving them the key to your car.
The trend began from a video that showed thieves stealing cars. The police said the cord can be used in any model of car.
My brother just purchased a car like that. “It’s terrible, he saw that on TikTok and now he’s worried,” said Pennell.
Police are telling people to always lock their doors and to always remove their charging cord from their car when they leave.

Eight cases have been reported in Pittsburgh. Four cases have been reported by the car dealership. At least one was in North Versailles.
Most newer cars have engine immobilizers, a chip that’s inside your car to protect it. Police advise adding a theft deterrent device to your car if you don’t have that.
