What about limiting how fast cars can go to slow down would-be speeders?: Roadshow

A: Why should auto manufacturers be allowed to make cars that can travel up to 90 mph? It’s possible to limit how fast the engines can go by putting a device on them. Would-be speeders would notice that.

I’m sure it would. There is a proposal to put a device on cars and SUVs to limit how fast they can travel. The idea gained traction after actress Anne Heche crashed her car in Los Angeles and burst into flames.

Commercial vehicles are also being considered. Heavy trucks and other commercial vehicles are going to be required to have speed limiters.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration issued a proposed rule together in 2016 The 2016 proposal never made it to a final regulation and did not come up with a maximum speed.

The rest stops on Highway 101 are still closed after Labor Day. It is always busy and convenient to stop at this time of year.

A person saw a large dog sitting in a brand-new car with all the windows up while I was shopping at ConcordCostco. I called the police because I was worried about animals. As the other person prepared to smash the window, the police told me that the a/c kicks on when the window is open.

The owner told him that the a/c would kick in if the inside got too hot. He was going to have to pay for a new window on his car.
