As a founding member of the band Sheppard, Amy Sheppard has earned her stripes over the last 10 years as part of one of our most successful acts to break through domestically and overseas. Nothing But Wild is Amy’s debut record.
The singer knows how to write a good country pop song. Her first two tracks, “Blue Guitar” and “Nothing But Wild”, have racked up more than 600,000 streams on the platform. There are songs that are emotional, human and warm.
Amy worked with many great Australian artists. Helping out were George Sheppard, George Bovino, and The Wolfe Brothers.
Amy wrote about her aim for Nothing But Wild. You can be sent off in many directions by love. The goal is to capture that from different perspectives.

Nothing But Wild from Amy Sheppard – Track by Track
Nothing but wild.
It’s about escaping the city as much as possible. It is about getting back to your wild side and having fun with your loved one. It was written on my first visit to Nashville. It was my first single and I thought it was a great way to introduce myself to the country music community. I filmed the music video for this song with my husband Lachie as the romantic lead and it still holds a special place in my heart.
The guitar is blue.
I believe every country music singer loves to tell stories and some are true and some are not. The big luscious ballads of the 90s from LeAnn Rimes and Faith Hill inspired me to write this one. It is the story of a country star who goes back to her hometown and sees a familiar voice singing on stage and he plays his guitar. He used to write songs about her. She can’t help but think if the songs he sings are still about her.
Sometimes, you learn something.
When you go through a break up, sometimes you learn. It’s about remembering to put yourself first and dusting yourself off. I made it the opening number of my set as it got the crowd going and set the tone for the rest of the show.
There are couple goals.
The couple goals was written about my husband. It’s about knowing that you’ve found the one. I am very happy with how the final version turned out, it is a pop-leaning track. I wrote it with the Wolfe brothers.
It has a flavour.
The song “Flavour” is about wanting to sample something. The song has a lot of food imagery and flirtatious vibes. I like that I can blend the two worlds of my own. It’s a lot of fun. It was written by George Sheppard, Jay Bovino and Phil Barton
It’s home to me.
The idea that home can be a person, not a place is explored in the book. Folky rhythms and sing-along melodies make it a classic love song. This is the kind of country song that I want to write and record, a song that brings people together through melody, rhythm and a theme.
Nothing but wild is out now. You can stay up to date with Amy Sheppard on her various social media accounts. There is a chance to win Amy’s blue guitar if you buy the EP before 5pm on September 22nd. For more information, check out the website.

Our track of the week is Miiesha’s track “everything” from her new album Mirrors. The track is perfect for the Anangu/Torres.
There is a song in music.
I was fortunate enough to travel around India with Sheppard in 2012 and by the time I got home, I didn’t want to hear their single.
There are live reviews.
Artists collaborated to cover the songs that were nominated for the song of the year at the APRA Awards. It’s an annual tradition and it’s always fun.
