In partnership with Amazon Fashion, the Council of Fashion Designers of America has revealed the nominees and honorees for the 2022, CFDA Fashion Awards.
The event will take place in Manhattan.
Catherine Holstein, Christopher John Rogers, LaQuan Smith, and Peter Do are in the running for American Menswear Designer of the Year.
Nominees for American Menswear Designer of the Year include Jerry Lorenzo for Fear of God, Emily Bode Aujla for Bode, Mike Amiri for Amiri, and Thom Browne for New York.
Aurora James for Brother Vellies is one of the nominees for the American accessory designer of the year.
The nominees for the American Emerging Designer of the Year are Bach Mai, Elena Velez, Colm Dellane, and Lauren Harwell Godfrey.
The Board of Trustees will honor the late designer with an award. Abloh was the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear collection and the chief executive of Off-White.
A fashion icon will be awarded by the CFDA in 2022.
The Positive Social Influence Award will be given to the Slaysians from The House of Slay.
The Wendy Yu curator in charge of The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art will be the recipient of the Founder’s Award.
The Starks will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Media Award is given in honor of Eugenia Sheppard.
The United Nations deputy secretary-general accepted the award.
A new award will be introduced by the CFDA this year. The first recipient is Law Roach, who works with celebrities like Lewis Hamilton and Venus Williams.
The organization is adding a one-time Special Anniversary Award, which will be given to Jeffrey Banks.
The award recipients will be named soon.
The CFDA will celebrate American fashion’s best and brightest talents, but also the 60th anniversary of the organization. The renewed excitement around American fashion generated by designers who areRedefining the Future of our industry is reflected in this year’s nominees. The designers who are using their creativity to transform and drive the industry forward will be honored at the CFDA Fashion Awards, according to the president of Amazon Fashion. America’s foremost designers, who have been influential in their efforts, from sustainable to innovation, are supported by the joint mission of Amazon Fashion and the CFDA.
